Austin Vivarium Association

Frank and I started the Austin Vivarium Association (AVA) several months ago to encourage vivarium enthusiasts to unplug and meet in person. Online communities are wonderful, but nothing beats in-person gatherings of passionate like-minded individuals sharing their love for all things vivaria. We welcome reptile and amphibian keepers and breeders, plant lovers, aquarists, insect keepers, terrarium builders and really anyone who is passionate about keeping flora and fauna in thriving enclosed ecosystems. Conservation of wild spaces and ethical field herping (searching for reptiles and amphibians in nature) are also fundamentally important parts of the AVA.

Our first meeting is going to be on 01/31 at 2:00p. We are still working on securing a venue. It is going to be a meetup and plant swap. I’m bringing a lot of anthurium seedlings that I produced in 2025 and plenty of cuttings from some of my poison dart frog vivaria and propagation boxes.

The Austin Vivarium Association is a Central Texas community of plant and animal enthusiasts devoted to creating thriving vivaria inspired by natural habitats, fostering conservation, ethical field herping, and a deep understanding of the flora and fauna we keep.
