Remember Me?
Hey there. Remember me? I know. I know. It’s been a minute since I’ve made a blog post. I was on a pretty good roll with folks participating in my Q&A, but life happened. With a full-time job, four boys, two dogs, and all of my passions, my blog started to collect some dust. I want to take a moment to talk about what I've been up to for the last several months.
It’s been about four months since I’ve posted a Q&A on this blog. I started out strong with so many incredible guests. Some folks just had no interest, and I can’t be mad at them. Answering the Q&A questions takes time. There are about 4-5 people who haven’t finished answering some questions, and I’m sure as shit not going to pressure them at all. Just crossin’ my fingers that they become motivated to finish. As soon as that happens, I’ll post them here. In the meantime, I’m going to hit up some other prominent folks in our hobby.
We finally finished the new oak frog rack, and I couldn't be more excited. It turned out better that I expected. It’s so freakin’ gorgeous!!!
My collection is crankin’. I added a lot of new frogs to the studio this year. As much as I adore Ranitomeya, I really switched gears in 2025 to acquire more obligates. I started this journey with a pair of Oophaga pumilio ‘Blue Jeans’ several years ago, so I decided that this was the year I wanted to up my Oophaga pumilio game. I picked up several more Oophaga pumilio ‘Blue Jeans’, a pair of O. pumilio ‘Bastimentos’, and a pair of O. pumilio ‘El Dorado - Spotted’. It’s been a blast working with more O. pumilio. My Bastimentos have produced a handful of healthy froglets, and the new Blue Jeans just started producing. I snagged a couple of Peacock froglets and tadpoles from my homeboy, Drew, who owns Carnivero. I totally lucked out and ended up with two pairs. I still have all of my other tincs and Ranitomeya from the previous seasons. 2026 is gonna be the year of the large obligates once the upstairs addition to our house is finished. I’m so stoked! 2025 has been a pretty successful breeding year. All of my tincs and thumbnails produced lots of viable offspring.
I’m working on several new tutorials that I will post on the site soon. I’ve spent the last several decades sharing my passion with other hobbyists, and I absolutely love teaching people about our amazing hobby. Stay tuned for some bangers!
Oh, I finally got around to making a YouTube channel. Making quality videos is certainly labor intense, but I really need to start making long-form videos. My Instagram page has been my primary focus. I’m not promising any consistency, but I sure as shit will try to add some good conent. Again, stay tuned.
It’s been about a year since I decided to “retire” from being a commercial photographer. It was definitely a rollercoaster, and I enjoyed getting to work with so many talented bands and musicians over 16 years. I simply reached a point in my photography career that I just wasn’t excited any longer and wanted to enjoy photography as a true passion again. I am! I’m stoked to pick up my camera again and finally do personal photography work that feeds my soul and keeps the creative juices flowing. My latest project involves photographing and documenting all of the flora and fauna on our property outside of Big Bend National Park. The Trans-Pecos is a species rich area that I love to photograph.
I’ve been photographing reptiles and amphibians for about two decades, and I’ve amassed a serious collection of herp photographs. I’ve photographed hundreds of species, and my friendship with Joel Sartore of National Geographic helped motivate me to really photograph as many herps as possible in the studio and in the field. I now have prints available for sale on my site.
I’m so excited about all of my new projects that I’m working on, and I can’t wait to share them with you guys. Peace and love.
